The fashion week around the capitals are in full swing and this month we are covering sustainable fashion outlets. Here is our take on Lendemain Organic, an online fashion outlet carrying various sustainable brands with up to date fashion trends. Continue reading for the full scope…
The philosophy of Lendemain (which means next day, to focus on a greener tomorrow) is that the clothes we wear are causing harm to those around us in form of unethical labour or the environmental damage. The website has a clean design that is easy to manoeuvre around. They offer both men and womens clothing which is awesome. For this review I chose to get the Claudio & Claudia vegan boots (NOA) in dark blue (although they’re pretty much black in person) and a pair of tights by Olivia in dark navy. We had a little chat with the owner to see whats in the future for the website.
Q: Whats the idea behind the brand?
A: The idea behind Lendemain Organic is to create an environmental friendly, cruelty-free and fairly produced alternative in the fashion industry. It is to make an oasis where all items are selected with the aim of a greener and more fair world, thereby making it easier for people to act in accordance with what they believe. Where NGOs are truly important in showing what we should do, for instance to minimize water and CO2 footprint or stop industrial factory farming of livestock, Lendemain Organic is a tool to actually do it, when it comes to clothes, shoes and bags.
Q:Whats the criteria for the brands to be chosen for the website?
A: All items on the shop need to be vegan, produced fairly and sustainable, in the sense that it is either made of organic materials, inherent sustainable materials or recycled materials. Therefore the brands which gets accepted to be in the shop are mostly very responsible and innovative fashion brands. Most of the brands are 100 % vegan, from other brands we choose a vegan selection. In order for a brand to be accepted to be sold at Lendemain Organic, they need to 1) make shoes, bags or clothing, 2) Fit into our collection stylewise, 3) have a vegan assortment, 4) be transparent and have certifications for workers conditions through out supply chain, 5) use sustainable materials as for instance recycled materials or organic materials.
Q: Whats the future plans?
A: In the short term Lendemain Organic will be present at more vegan and sustainable events in France and Denmark, in order to learn and debate and meet people who have the same vision as us. On longer term we're looking into the possibilities of opening a physical boutique in Paris.
The boots were much too my delight very sturdy in quality. There would be no way of me telling the leather is vegan by just looking at them and just like real leather you should expect to have to break them in with a few wears. As mentioned before they are pretty much black so don't expect blue boots despite it saying they are navy on the site. Other than that, this is all premium A1 quality vegan leather and although the price is a little higher you really do get what you pay for. The tights felt like regular tights and if you spend more on tights like luxury brand tights than this is fine if not there is a big question mark around the price point of them being much higher than your average tights.
PROS: The website having gender variety and that there is a constant expansion to the range available. The look of the items are modern and up to date with the fashion trends. Speedy delivery and sturdy packaging.
CONS: High price point for the products available, but you have to see this as a premium brand website much like net-a-porter is for regular brands. The shipping only being available in Europe.
