Mens: prAna activewear for climbing review

9/6/2017

Sustainable favourite prAna is a company that we have been eager to review since Day 1 especially with our athletic asking us to review sportswear. This piece is written by a guest writer and focuses on the climbing and active wear for men by prAna.

Established 1992 in California, they original creators designed the clothing in order to fill a gap in the Yoga and Climbing lifestyle markets. They have grown out of the garage they initially started in and have now blossomed into on of the most sustainable brands in there niche of the market, promoting a positive healthy lifestyle with consideration to the environment. prAna is a highly favored brand among climbers and outdoorsman mostly do the functional aspect of the clothing. So when we received our care package from them we knew that the best place to test out these clothes were at the local bouldering gym. In the photos you will notice one of our team members sporting the Mojo Shorts in Black. These shorts are made with 100% recycled polyester and are quick drying. They contain three pockets (2 front, 1 back) making them conventional when just casually worn. We had decided to pair the Mojo shorts with their Riverton Crew t-shirt. Due to the mix of organic cotton and recycled polyester that was used to manufacture this t-shirt, the result ended up being a highly comfortable piece of article of clothing that had a very high freedom of movement aspect whilst also managing moisture well. It was very hot in the gym that day and the shirt wicked the water quite well remaining dry after a 3 hour session on the walls.

In Day 2 of climbing we decided to try out the yellow version of prAna's Classic T-Shirt and we walked away feeling that it was not as performance based as the Riverton Crew. It could have been due to a result of the full organic cotton make up of the shirt but it felt a bit more restricting in terms of movement than the other articles of clothing. Finally there was the Vaha Pants that we received that we knew had to be taken directly to the yoga studio. They are made from a blend of hemp and recycled polyester and they were super versatile in range of movement. Unfortunately, we do not have a photo of the pants in action but trust me when I say these are an essential along with the Mojo shorts. Overall we were extremely pleased with everything that was sent to us and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a high quality, fully sustainable brand that promotes healthy and environmentally conscience lifestyle.
